The second series of PokerStars Shark Cage is in progress, and Brazilian footballing hero Ronaldo was the first player to exit from Heat 3.
With a big blind of 30k and three other players calling, Ronaldo made a ballsy raise of 70k with his pocket cards of 10 and 8 diamonds. Both Irish PokerStars qualifier Conor Callaghan with 10 ace off suit, and legendary MMA fighter Tito Ortiz with pocket 6’s called Ronaldo’s raise.
The flop (queen of clubs, three of hearts, 5 of hearts) did not enhance any of the three players’ hands. First to act Ronaldo made a bluff bet of 100k. Tito with pocket 6s called, whilst Conor opted to fold.
The turn (2 of clubs) also did not change anything, Tito was still ahead with his pocket 6s. Probably due to Ortiz’s call on Ronaldo’s bet following the flop, Ronaldo decided to check this time round. Ortiz also decided to check.
The river was the ace of diamonds. Again there was no change and Tito was still ahead. Ronaldo checked, and Tito made a bet of 150k. Obviously thinking that Tito was bluffing, unbelievably Ronaldo went all in for 656k! After some hesitation, and a time bank, Tito made a great call and won the hand.
With Ronaldo having slightly more chips than Tito he was still in the game. However, due to his all in bluff he was sent to the Shark Cage. And it was in the Shark Cage where he was blinded out of the game and out of the tournament.
