EPT High Roller Tournament

The European Poker Tour Deauville 2015 High Roller Event, in France, attracted a strong showing. 128 entries putting up 10,300 Euros each, generating a prize pool of 1,228,800 Euros. After a series of big all ins towards the end of day 2, only 12 players returned for the final day of play.

EPT High Roller Results

The first two names to fall on the final day were well known pros, Davidi Kitai and Tobias Peters.

The final table itself saw a distinct lack of big names, although Thomas Butzhammer, a regular on the European Poker Tour (EPT) circuit, fell in 8th place.

Three handed play saw Fady Kamar, Jean Noel Thorel, and Josip Simunic playing mostly push or fold poker, and it was Kamar who eventually hit the rail in 3rd place when his top pair was outdrawn by the second pair of Thorel, after they were all-in on the flop.

Soon after, the heads up match had also concluded, when Thorel flopped a top pair, and waited until the turn before getting his chips in the middle. Sadly for him, Simunic had turned a two-pair, and held on for the win. He took home over 309,000 Euros!

The EPT Main Event

592 players participated in the main event of the Deauville EPT 2015 Main Event. A buy-in of 5,300 Euros was required for entry, amounting to a prize pool of over 2,800,000 Euros!

The field size required two separate fields of players in day 1, which merged into one field at the start of day 2. It was only at the end of day 6, that the final table reached its conclusion..

The EPT Main Event Results

87 players were lucky enough to make it into the money, with Pokerstars pros Marcin Horecki and Eugene Katchalov locking up small cashes.

Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier also went deep, eventually getting unlucky in a big pot to leave him short, before exiting in 31st place.

Two former EPT main event winners still remained in the field, past ‘Elky’, Ruben Visser and Kevin MacPhee (EPT London and EPT Berlin former champions). However, they didn’t last much longer and departed in place 28th and 11th respectively.

Benjamin Pollack was the notable name flying the flag for France at the final table, but soon after he had fallen in 4th place, it was Dany Parlafes and Ognyan Dimov playing heads up for the Deauville 2015 EPU Main Event title.

Parlafes looked to be the victor when he was dealt a Ace-Clubs, King-Clubs, against Dimov’s Ace-Hearts, Jack-Hearts. However, luck wasn’t on Parlafe’s side when Dimov hit a flush on the turn with the following community cards; Queen Hearts, Three Clubs, Six Hearts and three Hearts. Dimov lifted the trophy, 543,700 Euros richer and with a career defining win!
